Lewis Hotel Accommodation
Welcome to Lewis Hotel .com from Enjoy Hebrides, your new gateway to the Inner & Outer Hebrides of Scotland.
The Isle of Lewis is the largest island in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Also know as the Western Isles these remote islands off the west coast of Scotland (a little north west of the Isle of Skye) have played a disproportionate role in the history of mankind. Many thousands of years ago Lewis was one of the first areas of the United Kingdom to become inhabited as the climate changed to one able to sustain small communities. By 3,000 BC man had left his mark in the form of the grand standing stones at Calanais (site 1 above & site 3 shown below) on the Isle of Lewis, considered by many to be amongst the most important in Europe. Throughout the Isle of Lewis and the Outer Hebrides there is a mass of archaeological evidence to prove that the islands have been continually inhabited for over 4,000 years. Today the standing stones, and many other interesting historic sites on Lewis, prove very popular with the tourists who, on the whole, respect the importance of these sites, ensuring that these sites remain accessible to future visitors to Lewis. If you are planning to visit the Isle of Lewis we hope that you will be able to find suitable Lewis hotel accommodation here on our site.
As there are only a few hotels on Lewis we have also included Lewis guest house accommodation and even Harris hotel details. All the Lewis hotels listed on this site are of a high standard, in fact, virtually all accommodation found on the Isle of Lewis, and the rest of the Hebrides, is absolutely superb and it is extremely rare for anybody to find accommodation that did not prove to be beyond their expectations. Hebrideans know the importance of hospitality and so they should as it lies at the very heart of their culture. Lewis is the perfect example of this ethos and all Lewis hotel and guest house accommodation offers a friendly welcome and a first class service.
If you are planning a vacation on the Isle of Lewis, or you are traveling to Lewis on business, it is, more than likely, that you will be looking to book a hotel in the town of Stornoway. Stornoway is the main town on the Isle of Lewis and serves as the main administrative centre for the islands. Stornoway is an excellent base for a Lewis vacation with Stornoway Airport, the ferry terminal and the local bus station, the town has all of the communication links to enable access to the best areas of the Isle of Lewis while also having excellent links to the Scottish mainland.
The three main Lewis hotels are the Caberfeiidh Hotel on the outskirts of Stornoway, the Royal Hotel in the town centre, and the Caladh Inn which is also on the outskirts of Stornoway but on the opposite side to the Caberfeidh.
